Bhutan Cypress Tours & Treks organized a tour program called Village Immersion Program (VIP), in collaboration with Tarayana Foundation from 3rd to 15th May 2006 for a group of aspiring young Japanese executives and future leaders. The VIP is a program with a difference. It provides a brilliant opportunity to take a break from our regular work and immerse ourselves in the lives of our poor. It is a program where the poor teach while we learn. The VIP provides an opportunity to understand poor by looking at the world through their own eyes, and understanding their needs, their reality, their priorities, and their dreams. It offers an understanding of the multidimensional causes of poverty; the micro impact of macro policies; and what organizational systems and processes truly reach the poor. One other reason why the VIP is vital is because it promotes team building, bonding, and an opportunity for everyone to have fun!
